The  Goddess

There in the space of a breath,

in that smallest of seconds it happened,

a gap in my defenses and the shell was cracked forever,

never to be mended except with her infinite love.

She is resplendent, with a smile to blind the mind's eye,

with hair whose curl bedevils men at each turn.

Two diamonds cast their clarity from her eyes,

things entrancing and taxing to gaze upon openly.

To hear her speak is to hearken the dawns honey laced tone,

her words seem composed and performed by the chorus of gods angels.

Her laughter would stop a bull in mid-stride and send him dreaming of hearing the sound again.

She is wrapped in the light of the noon sun who is jealous of her beauty,

and she is as pale as the moon with the luminous radiance to dim the greatest of stars.

A luster lies about her,

she is double-sided.

A temptress and an angel

neither none the more,

but something between the sky and the edge of heaven.

Elegant but unrefined, a rebel and a saint.

A life to be lived without her in sight is a torture beyond that which hell could devise,

she's the one who looses all my restraint,

I so badly don't want to need her.

I don't want to fight it though.

I never knew she'd be the one I wouldn't want to see.

I don't want this,

I want this so much.

She could soothe my soul with a single touch,

and I would melt myself away in her.

My fate is decided,

I want nothing more than what she doesn't know I need her to offer.

She provides that welcoming enfoldingness I need so bad.

I must wait; the vigilance of the hunter in his quest,

I can only look away,

with a heavy sigh and color in my heart,

she herself is only part of the answer I seek,

and her beauty lies there for something, and that something is not me.
