The Ones Before Me This dampness surrounding me, a thousand tears of those who cried before me. They are left before me, walked right through the door, and bleeding; stood in the snow, to fade like what was left of their souls, into the night, or with the rising of the ash covered sun. I am here now, thinking the same thoughts, praying to my god, or damning him. I am here now, with scars upon my body, and soul. Treading down a road paved only shortly before, by feet of ghostly men whose names are not remembered. I am here now, though not for much longer, shouting through coarse throat though none hear me. I am gone now, and my brothers and sisters with me, running tireless toward eternity now. Now knowing we did not die in vain, though so close to not dying at all. I am gone now, and I shall always stand, reminder of what worlds may come. I am forever now, because I died for you, future; and you have not forgotten me. |
