A Hard Nights Dream

I have pained myself a thousand ways,

In daylight and by the stars.

I have roared through canyon vistas

And come out the other side blank

Decrepit and drained,

Institutionalized

And been purified in the rain.

Evolution has seemed to try to swallow me

Keep me in embrasure and stitch my broken mind.

Memories, I've named and sustained,

Labeled them all and set them apart.

Chained them to be released in better days,

For sweeter smells

Lines of another face.

I've always wanted it this way,

Cast down,

Resurrected,

Healed by the infinite,

The indefinite;

Love of another.
