Loves Downfall

Her protector,

Close like a brother

Burdened because I feel something more.

Looking into her eyes,

I see a love I can't help but despise.

I am to her like so many others,

Friend, confidante,

Always brother.

I love her, but cannot outright say such.

It hurts too much.

For both of us,

Though maybe more for me.

I wish to hold her,

Show her and listen,

To hear all the lovely crazy things she has to say.

I want her to be my emotional burden,

And for me to steep myself in her light.

It may be impossible,

Age and interest already divide us,

Who knows what other obstacles I can find.

I get so tired,

Trying to get her to notice me,

Not just me.

Trying to make her forget about me,

Getting her to release all she knows,

Dread me.

I've not allowed to know,

Pained myself not to show.

In my heart I seethe

Anger shot like sparks trying

To make me stop.

Yelling to my disconnected head

Stop protector,

Protect her.

You are the enemy and shelter of all.

And thus I am downfall.
