The Beginning

(an inkling of human sufferance at the hands of each others minds)

From the first day you sat tall,

it knew you.

It swallowed you from the first,

it never let you know it any other way.

It sees you as you grow,

and unless you saw it somehow long ago then you'll always know it's there.

You build your barriers and they wonder why.

You see it all and can't show the face.

It hides behind everyone's curtain,

the reasons they give for the hurt.

You never need apologize

everyone has it within their guise.

It holds a lure in front of our eyes,

a temptation thats almost to hard not to take.

Deciding when you are you is the hardest thing to do.

Your shifting self doesn't let it be at peace.

Your mind says you can settle into something,

but the path has more twists than you normally learn.

In each other we find great solace,

tears we can feel but that never appear.

It's not ugly,

our lives are beautiful,

even those that can't see the hate they bring.

I can't say it outright,

but there's a piece inside of us that can be it all,

a place where there is nothing but pain,

Its that place you know is there when you get dumped,

its that hole in your stomach when you love a girl so much.

You look at the emptyness of your life and that of those around you,

you cry in your dreams and you don't remember why,

it's that.

It is the will you never had,

but were never given the opportunity to live.

You are the ending of us all,

You are the savior for your cause.

You don't see beyond what you are,

and you don't see into what was never meant to be.

The mind inside turns us out,

the deeper secrets locked tight within the halls of doubt,

I can reach and grab for them,

but no.

Yours and my insecurities hold me back.

The lacking of our collectivness sells us out to each other,

we all know each other and we all fit together.

I don't know who severed the link,

I don't know exactly how to put it back.

My sight now extends to that side of the side thats worse,

it takes it's toll on us,

until we become so callous,

we sever all our ties and find some kind of invulnerableness.
